@ this moment, it's the number one purchase I'm considering. I might even go out and get one an hour from now when the stores open! Just the thought of carrying around 40 gigs of mp3's to use @ any given moment my heart desires(I'm a huge music lover) appeals to me in a major way!

Whoa, I'm getting carried away. The intent of this thread is to make it become "Everything you could possibly want to know about IPOD'S". It's not exactly a minor expense, and it would be a good resource for those considering the purchase. So post everything an anything that has to do with IPOD'S here, and hopefully we will be able to make a pinned thread out of it soon. :)

Just curious,why do you wanna buy a player that restricts you to the use of a format that's way to expensive and that doesn't allow you to play your overpayed music in any other device directly?????
I agree that it looks attractive,but there are players out there that allow you to play ogg,aac AND mp3......and cost less....:eek:

I'm not really interested in Itunes or any other kind of service. I'm interested in quick transfers of mp3's from my pc to the ipod, with massive storage capability. Which format were you talking about rw?

Aren't iPods the one with an inbuilt flaw that stops you from listening to mp3? There was quite a stir about it a while back- during testing a major flaw was found but never fixed before they were released to production. Choose another manufacturer Al, seems kind of flakey to me.
