Grid.org Any members here?
 

Just wondering if there are any members from B1 who are also taking part in the grid.org project to find cures for diseases\cancer. If there are any members here taking part who are not in a team would they consider Joining a new B1 team?

For those who don't know about grid.org and want to read more you can visit the site at http://www.grid.org and read up on their 2 current projects. Basicly it's a seti@home like project to find the functions for each of the proteins in the human genome in the hope of finding cures for diseases and CANCER.

Well just download but wont install:

"The Windows Installer Service couuld not be accessed. ... "

Though all other windows installer appz work fine and service is running fine. Tried rebooting but no luck. :(

I had to manually start the windows installer service last time that happened, think i was installing NAV or NIS at the time. I reinstalled my PC over the weekend and used the provided installer without any probs- it's been churning units out like a charm :D

Tring to figure it out.

Even viewer says:

Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x80004005

Windows Installer proxy information not correctly registered

All right figued it out. Its a bug in Windows Installer 3.1 beta. hehe

So do this:

1. Log on as an administrator
2. Run "net stop msiserver" from a command prompt
3. End all instances of the process "msiexec.exe" using the task manager.
4. Run the command "msiexec /regserver" from a command prompt
5. Run "net start msiserver" from a command prompt
