Can't Access Folder!

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents

On my boss's PC (XP Sp2). Mouse over says folder is empty but we can't open it. Can't move/rename/delete etc. Not even in safe mode. We can't change it from read only or change it's sharred properties (it keeps resetting).

Any Ideas? Acrobat 6 and/or 7 wants to access it to install a file. Sounds like I need some kinda reg hack?

TIA.

You can try to fix that in command prompt only mode, or you can boot the machine using any decent boot-cd with utils and then delete it (and create it again).

EDIT: Spelling... imho English is in need of some reforms... :)

I have got the same exact problem !

http://members.iinet.net.au/~malith/images/20050107/folderprob.PNG

Adobe wants Documents folder to copy Adobe PDF folder.

Hopefully we'll find a cure.

Edit:

I have also tried booting using Windows PE 2003 and then trying to delete the folder using WinInternals application but still no go. :(

How strange is that.

McoreD: Is there a space at the last position in
Code:

C:\Visual Studio\Backup Files>cd "WM9 Bitrate Calculator "
?

tubebuoy: I'm sorry. I was tired and didn't read your post properly. When I replied I was under the impression you had a folder you wanted to delete.

Hi unicorn, When you let Command Prompt to complete the folder name i.e. press TAB, it chooses WM9 Calculator with a space.

C:\Visual Studio\Backup Files>cd "WM9 Bitrate Calculator "
The system cannot find the path specified.

If I manually delete the space and retry:

C:\Visual Studio\Backup Files>cd "WM9 Bitrate Calculator"
The system cannot find the path specified.

Very strange indeed.

McoreD: I see. Odd. But why should the solution be that simple? I hope you find a way to solve the problem.

good luck,

Have you tried to turn off "Simple File Sharing"?

Goto "Tools/Folder Options" and scroll to the last check box. Uncheck that. You should be able to access and change the file/folder premissions under the "Security" tab of the folder in question.

I have same problem and of course simple file sharing is off. ;)
