Symantec to buy Veritas
 

In one of the biggest software mergers ever, Symantec will join forces with Veritas. The newly formed contruction will carry the name Symantec.

Symantec, known for it's wide range of security software will add the Veritas portfolio: data protection, storage and server management software (according to veritas itself used by 99 percent of the Fortune 500).

Things seem to be on the move in the industry, since only a couple of days ago Peoplesoft finally agreed (after 18 months!) to be taken over by Oracle.
