help! new dvd-rw, aspi error

got a new nec dvd-rw 16x dual layer drive, but nero won't see it and easy cd creator 6 will see it then give me aspi errors while trying to burn.

i've tried updating them but it doesn't help. anyone have any ideas? thanks.

edit: here is the error message in roxio:
Code:

E80041927: TrackWriter error - ASPI failure - [T7121]
i've tried installing aspi v4.70 and v4.60.

Have You Tried Alcohol 120%

well alcohol 120% saw it but I couldn't get it to burn my pictures and stuff. it only wanted to burn images.

Not sure if this is mentioned in the post above but turn off RegionFree, DVDIdle Pro or any software like the above. If i forget and leave DVDIdle pro running i can't burn anything but coasters!

well i finally found the problem somewhere and it is due to having nvidia ide drivers. once i uninstalled them and just let windows use its drivers i was able to burn a cd and i'm assuming a dvd.

now the only problem is that every time i boot into windows it installs its drivers every time. i have disabled my av/firewall but it doesn't help any.

Normally, you have to change to the windows drivers by selecting them from the compatible drivers list ,instead of uninstalling the Nvidia drivers 1st......if you choose "update drivers",you also have the option to choose the drivers manually.....

If you installed the Nvidia ForceWare package, check control panel-->software-->Nvidia drivers-->uninstall,then you can install/uninstall every Nvidia driver seperately.....

well the nvidia drivers aren't in the uninstall area of the control panel. its been too long since i installed them and i can't remember how i did it.

is there anything else i can do to fix this?

edit: well i fixed it. i installed the nvidia drivers again, then followed roadworkers instructions without uninstalling the nvidia drivers and now it doesn't load the windows drivers every time i boot up.

thanks guys.
