Anyone seen this, or know of the solution?
Most of the time, in IE6 under XP, when I click on a download link and choose Save, IE saves a bogus .htm file instead of the true target file. The only workaround I have found is to choose Open instead, and after a moment see another similar download dialog, in which I can choose Save, and it begins a normal download. Weird.... is this an IE or an XP problem, and is there any fix for it? It's a royal pain. Thanks, kirkhere |
Can you give us an example - soemtimes what appears to be a direct link to a file is really just a link to the download link.

Yes,
Is this a live link or a html link ? A good download manager like Flashget is the solution  |
Most likely you are trying to download from a site that uses 'anti leach' scripts. If this is true, you just have to use 'open in a new window' option and deal with the popups.
