How do I get my WinXP Professional logo back after installing SP2?
It now just says 'WinXP' :( It was nice to differentiate on startup which system was which. |
You could use BootSkin from Stardock
[url=http://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin[/URL] It's free. You can download boot skins from WinCustomise. Each installation can have a different boot screen. |

Q) Why is my boot screen different for build XXXX? Since SP2 is designed to work on Home Edition, Corporate, Media Center Edition, and Tablet PC platforms, Microsoft decided to simply things and remove both the edition (e.g. Professional) & the copyright (e.g. xxxx-2004) from the boot screen. |
That was a dumb move :( They could easily detect which version was running and modify the bootscreen appropriately.
I tried the BootSkin program and it does not have the Pro/Home bootscreens in it. Can anyone help me get the old ones back? |
These were the only Windows XP type ones I could find

You might get some info at: http://www.theeldergeek.com/boot_logo_01.htm
At least it will show you how to change it to something you might like. |
