Hi everyone
i'm very sad t see my 21" Sony G500 CRT monitor slowly diying on me :(
Is getting more and more bright every day , black is now grey
Even with Adobe Gamma Loader, Nvidia Driver Tweakin and setting the monitor brightness to 0 iit's still fu*t!
Other proble is that when i tunn the monitor on for the first few minutes a gre random zooming effect untill the monitor is warm.

the sad part that it's a professional monitor and i was especting a longer life span
it's about 4.5 years old....

I'm thinking of going LCD and here is where i NEED ADVICE.
I want to get at least a 19" so that is almost the same size as my 21 crt.

Which one to buy ?
I want one that i can use for work but i also want to be able to play sme games on it.

Any advice is very welcome =)

Cheers

love the Samsung stuff...reasonably priced, great color rendering, and looks nice too!
I have a 24 incher; my wife has a 19inch..
We also have 2 Samsung TV's..
Hard to believe, but Samsung has become the "Sony" of the new millenium..they are actually making most of the Sony Flat Screen stuff now..

19 inch can be had for around 550.00 US...21 inch is about 999.00

good luck!

I would say a 20-21" screen capable of 1600x1200, a contrast at least 1:500 or more and as you play games I guess you need to look into the refreshing rate as well.
A Samsung is ok, but also have a look at Eizo Flexscan L885, also a good performer.

If at all possible, go for two 19"+ TFT screens. After you get used to the screen real-estate you will never miss your old monitor.

I've been using two L1910S LG monitors and would never go back to a single monitor setup. Especially since I frequently use several programs at a time, and the ability to see them all at once without switching between windows is great.

Even a 2x17" TFT setup would be very good, and wouldn't cost much more than a single 21" CRT.

Im using an 18 inch lcd from Microtek Display Technologies, Inc.. It has almost the same viewing area as my 19 inch lcd and the difference in quality of picture is amazing. About 500.00 for this one and I think it was worth the money
