Nope its not about names or anything of the sort. I'm trying to figure how I can let my wife stay at home because, we are having a baby this december! oh BTW its also a girl!

I know of some of the support programs like WIC, and medicaid (medicare?), using my spouses income we just make to much! Is there any way to maybe get help, or figure a way for her to stay at home and be with our daughter after she is born? My wife is willing to stay at home but I realize that we would need the help of WIC or something of that nature! Are there any other options?

ANy suggestions are welcome!

If you would like more info PM me (my financial stuff)

Later,
~PCTech

Edit:

Anyone know where to buy diapers and wipes and formula for really cheap online??

Not sure about any of those $Money$ assist programs, never used them. As for having time off, your wife and you could look into FLMA. You and your wife can get up to 12 weeks off from work and your employer can't give away your job or fire you. I've used this with every one of our 4 kids and plan to use it again in February when #5 comes along. Of course, understand that your time off is not paid. Here's a link that can give you more information.

As a tax payer (with no children) I wonder why I should pay you to raise children?

Remember, ALL government programs are paid for by your neighbors NOT just "rich people". Sorry, but this is a touchy subject with me. I'm sick and tired of people complaining about how expensive it is to raise babys. I'll now bite my tongue and wish you and yours a happy, healthy, child.

tubeout.

PCTech 14th Jul 04 03:07 AM

i'm also a tax payer, and its not my fault if I need help! I'm not complaining at all and I never suggested that just rich people pay for those programs, because I am also a tax payer I pay for them too! My logic is if I'm paying out of my own pocket for a program that I want to be a part of, WHY can't I use it? If you would like my financial information its in a spreadsheet format, just PM me (it autocalculates)

It pains me to see people get upset about someone wanting to use a public program that they themselves have contributed to! Medicare and Medicaid are taken out of my check as well as FICA, why shouldn't I be allowed to use a program that is designed to help people that dont make above the "State Poverty Wage"?

I never said just rich people pay for it, I know everyone does including myself and my spouse. Until you start pricing how expensive diapers alone are, please dont get upset and say your sick and tired of it. because the first and only immidiate pay back is a tax deduction that you get when you have a child! Diapers for new borns are 13$ a pack, and you figure that they "go" 10-12 times a day and there are 40 diapers per pack that would be:

14.79 (here in the store)
40 (# of diapers
that is .36975 CENTS PER DIAPER

so at 10-12 times a day that is: $3.70 to $4.44

and they will be size NB diapers for about 1 month that would be roughly 310 - 400 diapers. that alone in 1 months time would make a total for just newborn diapers around "135$"

Now forgive the rough illustration, but everytime you change a diaper you have to use at least 1 wipe to clean them (NOT TP paper!) now you can see how it starts adding up really quick, because they sleep 1-3 hours at a time so when they wake up they get changed, fed and so on, then when you factor in formula, which BTW is 20$ and up per CAN! you will go through 1 CAN or so a week and thats 80$ right there.

So Totally: 135$ + 80$ = $215

that again doesn't count wipes, or the health insurance increase per month which is 95$ a month, or the cost for doctor vists. So the fact that people complain is a good complaint, because there isn't enough help out there, and I dont know about anyone else but I dont have $310+ to pay for that (wipes and doctor costs not included) every month. Its almost like paying rent or something 2 times!

Sorry if this made anyone mad, again PM me if you want my financial information so you can see what I really do make and pay!

@PCTech - As a father of 5 (with the 5th due in February) all from the same woman, I do understand! We just made our 10 years of marriage, but we have been a couple since high school October 28, 1988. I'm very thankful that currently I make enough for my wife to stay at home with our kids and all our bills still get paid. Of course, we do not live high on the hog as some might think. Our car/van has over 140,000 miles on them. :(

I do have a problem with those people that don't want to work but want the tax payers to raise their kids. For example the couples that don't get married because they can collect more state $ if they stay single and let the boyfriend live there at the taxpayers cost.

PCTech 14th Jul 04 11:48 AM

I totally agree with you, i've been married for just over a year now and me and my wife have been a couple sinse a little after high school as well. My wifes car has almost 100k miles on it, and my car has 111k miles on it and my car has a bum engine it smokes and squeals all the time! I dont want to collect money that I dont need, I just need help with providing, for diapers, and wipes, i'm married so I'm not trying to collect more. I just need help.

I do have a problem with people that collect more, as well as people that have a handicape sticker and aren't handicaped, and people that come in a resturant and eat 100$ of food and wont leave but a 2$ tip for the waitor!

We surely wont be living high on a hog at all, our ends wont meet unless I get a better 2nd job or another job (3rd job). I was a network admin in the army for 2 years, and now i'm washed up and can't get a decent job doing what I love. but sometimes that is the way the ball bounces! I just know God has a better plan for me somewhere in time, and I hope its soon, or that my eyes are opened and relief comes after the baby gets here!

oh yah, I just add oil to my car when it burns most of it off through the tail pipe, i add more! :)

Its not that I dont work, I push 60+ hours a week and i would like to see my wife some, after all your still newly wedds until you die right? at least thats how I would like to look at it, even though my wife dont see it that way! :)

sure I could work more, but if I did my second job would burn me out and would affect my proformance at my 1st one. Maybe it isn't ment for my wife to stay home in Gods eyes! maybe sinse she loves working with kids she should work at the daycare? I guess only God knows the answer....

Glad to hear you talk about God, I trust you pray for direction.

You might want to look at the Salvation Army for a little help with food to save money. Also, if your wife has not already signed up for it the top two baby formula companies send you several $1 - $5 coupons if you sign up with them. They do this to get you to buy their product. They also sometimes send you some cans in the mail for free to try. I've signed up with both in the past even though we only used one brand. Often the cans they send have the words "Sample" over the barcode, but sometimes they don't. I have then taken that can to the store and told them I bought the wrong kind and ask if I can exchange for the other brand. :P

This is two part reply.

First let me say that Congrats are in order we have our second baby due in Sept/Oct. A little girl as welll.

Second I Commend you on your desire to have your child raised by a full time parent. I think that Society was 10x better during the "leave it to Beaver " Generation, (BTW this was before the TAX burden was so high that 2 people had to work to survive) I was one of the early latch key kids. I think that TV and Playstation raising our children is wrong, We like KC are in our 10th year of marriage, we bought our first house 6 years ago, had our first child 4 years ago, we planned ahead. But money is still tight from time to time.

I will reply to taxes etc in the next thread. You said that your wife loves Kids, depending on your housing situation you may or may not be able to do home day care. But one thing depending on the state you live in, it ranges from $1300 - $2500 per child (TAX FREE) to do foster care for children with devlopment needs. They attend school during school hours. I am unsure what state that you live in but we have some friends that do it here they go through an agency as opposed to the state directly, they get time off 2 days once a month.
