Over the last few weeks i have been buying new parts to upgrade the old system i had, i ended with this:
Code:
P4 3.2 gig Prescott Can anyone think of anything else i can do with it? On a side note, the ThermalTake case looks extremely nice BUT the 5 fans and the fan/temperature display module are a pain in the donkey. The cables will NEVER look neat untill i start hard wiring them with a soldering iron and while the side mounting internal HDD bays look good they are a pain in the donkey to get IDE cables to- hence the move to serial ATA drives. links to hardware here: http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/Damier/v6000a.htm http://www.akasa.com.tw/spec/coolers/spec_ak_901xt.htm http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p...-FISR&class=mb http://www.corsairmicro.com/corsair/xms.html |
I would love to have specifikations like that. Five fans... noisy? For some time I have been looking at this:
Code:

oh wow, that looks awesome! Wouldnt mind something like that myself.
Yes, the 5 fans are noisy. you can controll the speeds which does lessen the noise but the system temp slowly creeps up if you do that :( |
@ DoG
Yeah, 5 fans seem to be about right. :) I to have 5 fans running inside my rig. If I didn't, I'd probably be able to cook breakfast on it! :lol1:. What are you temps? Idle and on full load? @ unicorn, That cooling rig is sick. Wish I had one of them... but I don't think I'd have the room for it... Ah, I guess I can always make room for something as cool as that! :D -SlickVic78 |
It's at around 30C idle and 56C Full load. I had better results from my old case with this CPU Cooler than i do with this one, the other case kept the temps down to 25C idle and 46C at full load. Saying that, all the cables and stuff in there restrict the air flow something rotten, when i can get them soldered and routed properly it may help. The instructions for the dozzens of cables suck! I don't suppose that having to have some of the cables strewn over the mobo helps- but there just isn't enough play in the cables to get them neat and tidy :(

I have only a P4 2.0 ghz and the temp is never too high ;) What is the temp in your room ? |
Room temp is 31C, got a few pc's in here and the AC is bust :(
|
Ok,
Here the room themp is only 23 C |
@SlickVic78: Yup, it's sick. And expensive, and cool. Above all it's silent.
Silence is a luxuary. Of course everyone judges for themselves. Is it worth the money? I would say yes. Don't forget that your relatives and friends will be much more impressed by this cooling tower than they ever will be from some cryptic MoBo codes. Then you can talk a little about environment pollutions and noise... |

I have a 4th computer in my room that I only turn on when I am testing out applications and websites I am working on, which adds a few more degrees to the room when turned on. I tell ya... Heat is our computer's worst enemy! Besides that, there's dust! :lol1: I ended up blowing out my rig the other day and the amount of dust that came out was scarey! It did knock off a few degrees though. My current temps on my main rig usually fall into the same range as your computer temps, DoG. -SlickVic78 |
