Virtual Server 2005 is coming in July if the recent reports hold true. Within the current builds the release notes have also been changed to indicate that a release candidate is not far away. A quick preview covers the build v1.1.445.0, however the latest build, which was compiled today, is v1.1.446.0.
The following is a list of new features within the preview releases: Security enhancements, SCSI support, Improved large memory support, Global Resource Allocation Page, Globalization, Named Password Authority service, Clustering support, Virtual DHCP server configuration options. Some of the removed features include: VNC support (damn, that was a nice option), Ability to create formatted drives, performance counters along with changes to the support hosting operating systems list. Windows Server 2003 Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter will be supported. ![]() ![]() |
