Why is it so quiet around here?

Is it because there is no download section like nxsecure etc?
Is it because people have moved on and this forum does not mean anything to them anymore?
I remember when this place was "buzzing" with activatey, there are thousands of members registered but do not post, WHY?
How many active members are there using this forum in the last 2 months?
If nobody post people will no longer come here, how about emailing everyone who is registered and tell them to come along and post - how about having a competition - anything to stop this forum from dying!

Any answers/suggestions?

perhaps they are too busy studying

Yeah, that could be a possible explanation. I have four exams, the first will be in three days time. Saying that I've been around here too much :-/

Secondly, its a cyclic thing... if less people post, there are less active discussions, so less people find anything interesting enough to reply to. As admins there is little we can do about this.

Thirdly, back when this place was "buzzing with activity", Windows XP was in late beta stage. There was a new build release every few days, so there was lots of discussion seeing as we are mainly a beta site. After Windows XP went RTM, the place became quiet within a few months, and has gradually been getting worse. Of course Longhorn is in the works, but we get a new build every 1/2 a year at present, and barely anyone uses it for longer than a few days before going back to XP. When it becomes public beta I'm sure there will be a wave of new and active users.

Hey Athlete, sometimes ... peoples can have others occupations then internet/PC/betaone.

Some of us have famaly, childrens and others study!!!

And sometimes .. u know .. internet is boring .... ... no news appz out on the market ... or no great games. So ...at this time .. peoples go also out. U know .. this is spring time .. The sun is hot ( girls too ( LOL )), so why keep being this screen 4 hrs a days .. we all do that in the winter !!

Point taken.

I too also have a girlfriend, 5 yr old son and a job.
My job involves using a pc for 8 hours a day, so I like to go the internet and seeing as this was the first board I joined I feel loyal to it and like to check it out. It just seems quiet, whereas there used to be people "talking" all the time.

I agree with most...it does sort of cycle. I would think the late spring & summer may be the quietest, as folks finish their studies and vacation, etc. Probably pick up as new stuff for 2005 is discussed. Or if Microsoft ever finishes their sp2 for xp.

I personally have no problem with the ebb and flow of this board and it's discussions. Gives me a chance to go back and read some of the older posts and get caught up a bit on things.
