Childless couple told to try sex

A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex.

The University Clinic of Lubek said they had never heard of a case like it after examining the couple who went to see them last month for fertility tests.

Doctors subjected them to a series of examinations and found they were both apparently fertile, and should have had no trouble conceiving.

A clinic spokesman said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?".

"We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."

The 30-year-old wife and her 36-year-old husband are now being given sex therapy lessons while the university clinic undertakes a study to try to find out if there are more couples with a similar lack of sex education.

I don't think the historical evidence backs that up. Hitler was undoubtably evil, but that isn't neccessarily the same as being dumb. Persuading an entire nation to side with his absurd ideas must have taken quite a bit of skill!

I think humans figured out that sex makes them have children, as soon as they were able to communicate effectively enough to pass on ideas, more like 1.4 million years ago, rather than 1904. Secondly the desire for sex is instinctive. No species on this planet would exist if they had to be specifically instructed to have sex.

Of course I think the entire article is bullshit, and I woudn't trust everything I see in print. I don't see the couple in question taking their lack of knowledge to the press, the fertility clinic they attended wouldn't have had much motivation either. Tabloids on the other hand are known for making up random stories intended to make people think "wow, that's amazing".

I agree it is sort of funny. As for religion, to me it isn't evil just a structure of relationships. It totally depends on the person how and what they do with those relationships.

Money and religion together is the root of all evil. Takes two to tango. :P
