Does anybody know why my fully updated
Norton AntiVirus did not find and stop the Sasser worm from infecting my PC. all the best JTK |
Sorry to hear that
Windows Update and/or a Firewall of some sort would probably have prevented the worm infection, and NAV does occasionally miss some problems. A combination of these three kept my PC from getting infected. This Sasser worm is a tough one, needs no "operator action", it finds YOU! They should string up that kid in Germany who wrote it! |
Last week I made several hundred dollars removing Sasser from infected PCs and Workstations. All but one was using Norton [it was running McAfee]. None had the update patch from Microsoft. All the Norton 'protected systems' had Live Update running.
I do like one thing about Norton/Symantc however... the Symantec Sasser remover tool worked nicely :) As usual they [Norton/Symantc] were a day late and a dollar short. Norton SUX! |
Thanks for your reply, maybe macafee is better than norton antivirus.
Our company a FM Radio station and newspaper also got sasser worm it took all day to get rid of it. Thanks again JTK |
Does anyone know of anyone with Nod32 that got the virus?
|
I think part of it is the ISP, the larger ISP's usually have to keep their system clean in order to please all the consumers. They don't want a lot of mad customers getting something on their computer that they (the company) could possible prevent.
Just my opinion. Thanks Dudelive |
I run NOD32 and have had NO problems at home or work PC's. I used to run McAfee and have used Norton. I hated Norton and McAfee was good but a big resource hog (not as big as Norton though). I really like NOD32 and AVG Antivirus has kept another comuter I run safe and sound. But it was likely not the antivirus that kept the bug out but Zone Alarm Pro...a good firewall is a MUST.
