I am reminded of the old saying "you get what you pay for". This product is gradually becoming a better performing and reliable av choice, but I wouldn't trust it at this point to protect my systems.

Sure, the price point is very inviting, but if it doesn't stop viruses I don't care if it is free.

Note: I base my opinion on www.virusbulletin.com, where this product has twice as many fails as it does passes.

Normally, I wouldn't rip a free product, but stopping viruses is so important that I thought I would toss in my 2 pennies ;)

i started using this after using avg free version because avg wasn't updating on a regular basis. avast updates regularly and has protected me already.

but my isp catches most of the viruses in my emails so that helps.

Indeed, twice as much fails as passes, but if you check this list:http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archiv....xml?avist.xml
you'll notice that it got the 100% award for most recent operating systems, except win2003,which wasn't officially supported at the testing time.....

I use win 2k and win XP as dualboot, and Avast is tested with both of them and gets the 100% virusbulletin award, which gives me a pretty fine feeling :D
