Guys, I just purchased both a new motherboard and a new video card. The motherboard is an ASUS A7V8X-X and the video card is an ATI All-In-Wonder 9200. I installed both into my system and have update all the drivers for both the motherboard and the video card. Now when I am in Windows XP, after a few minutes my computer freezes and attempt to reboot. I don't know what to do. Should I do a fresh install of Windows? I know the board is good because I put my old graphic card in and it work. I also know that the video card is good becuase it works in my wife's machine. Any advice you can give will be well appreciated.
Thanks |
I have a ASUS K8V DeLuxe and in it's manual it says that I can't use an older version of ATI 9500/9700 Pro cards. It might be the same problem you have, check your manual or Asus website.
I don't say it is this problem you have, but it might be :) Homie |
you might want to do a Google serach for your motherboard
and ATI - you aren't the only one having problems - here is one link _http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/13246 |
I am currently using the same motherboard and no problems.
First make sure the jumpers are correct and the lastest bios: http://www.asus.com/support/download...elName=A7V8X-X Get asus update. Makes it easyier to flash and to check for future bios updates. Is that an agp or pci grahpics card? Either way turn off fast writes in the bios. Also if it as an agp card make sure its the right apg speed in the bios. cya, Will PS: I'm using the latestest beta bios 1010 beta 1. Working great. |
Will, where did you get the 1010 beta at? I have 1009.
