Well, family umm I got a problem with where I'm living. We were supposed to move to a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath house (renting it) from the apartment (1 bedroom 1 bath) we are currently renting. I looked my lease over and I thought it was a 1 year lease, but it says "The lease shall commence from May 15th, 2003 through May 31st 2004" Which is stupid because thats 16 days extra. 16 days isn't alot but to someone on hard times thats a lot of money. We just can't afford to pay rent for somewhere else and here! The thing is, we are renting from someone and they already told us we could move in, in May. when we orginally told them That it was up in April. They were nice enough to give us an extension once. It really sucks, because my wife was looking forward to moving right across from our church (and her work), it would save us money in gas, and is only 40 more bucks for an extra 350 square feet of space and it has a pond in the back yard so i can fish! AHHH I'm just upset right now I just can't stand it! I missed that little line above and now it might cost us a home and we can't stay here because after May 31st the rent goes up to "fair market value or $650, which ever is more" according to the lease. I think i'm done with my rant now, anyone that has advise, or something to tell me that will make me feel better, i'm all for it! I just can't stand to have my wife feel bad! It just hurts to make a mistake like this, I feel bad that we told the other folks wrong and they gave us more time, and we told them wrong again and darn it!

Feelin Bad,

If you moved in around the 15th, your landlord might be trying to end the lease at the end of the month, when most leases expire and more importantly, when most people want to move in. Have you spoken to him/her? If the place can be rented by the 15th (move in date), I don't see how that would matter to the landlord when you moved. In short - check with the landlord.

Yah thats the best advise just talk to them! You never know they might work with you.

Yah I talked with them, the lady I talked to said that the manager wouldn't be willing to work with me because she said that she would say "well its only 16 days difference, so its not alot of money...." and the lady said that she understands that when money is tight, 16days is alot of money, and if she was the manager she would try to work with us, like not giving back the security deposit and keeping half the pet deposit, which would help alot!!! But stinky happens, and God will provide for my family and I have faith that he will, it just, AHHH...ya knoww?

So when u moved in, did u only pay a half months rent to the 1st of the next month then? I would check to see whether maybe u overpayed them already. Did u play 1st and last months rent? If so, u owe nothing fer last month. Hope everything werks out for ya. I would still move and work out payment with your current landlord. They don't have a choice, either work with u or they don't get their money. Also u would probably pay them off before they could start any legal proceedings. Good Luck. ...griz ;)

:( sorry to hear of your problem. Because you have a lease there is not much that you can do. Your best bet is to tell the landlord when the place will be empty and have him/her try to rent it out as soon as possible after that. They may not rent the same place to two people at the same time, but if you are lucky the landlord will do his/her best to rent out the place then he/she should refund you money for the other people taking your place in that home.

Best wishes :)
