It would not remove any existing MSJVM installations. :)

Anyway for clean Windows XP SP2 installation, you got several options:

You can use Windows XP SP1 (not SP1a) to slipstream with XP SP2

You can download MSJVM from http://www.download.windowsupdate.co...a04af2b34d.exe

You can download Sun Java from www.java.com

Cheers,

I think sp2 removes Java.
I started with SP1 (with java) and slipstreamed SP2 into it but didn't end up with msjava. I had to install it seperatly then update it through windows update to the current version.

If you want to see what version you have installed open up a command prompt and type: jview

Like has been said, why not just get Java from Sun Microsystems. I have it installed on sp1 and it works fine.

Guys it does not delete it. It just gets disabled. ;) At least thats what is suppose to happen. With beta 1 it did remove but rc1 does not. At least not on three of my computers. And two of my friends. :)

Anyways just open internt options for ie and go to security tab and customize it and make jure MS Java is not set to disabled.

See pic.
