i am trying to start up an ftp site on my computer. i am trying bullet ftp which seems pretty easy to set up, but i cant get it going. can someone point me to the right direction of some help guides or start up guides. does anyone recommend any software that might be easy to use. i thought i was close but i cant seem to get a connection. i am also using a usr router if that makse a software difference.

I would like to try to help. I saw your post in the other thread.
As I understand it you have a server running and you can see people trying to connect but they can't.
Can you take it from there a little more in detail, also tell us if your router is in place or not.

Yea more than likly you need to forword the port that you are using for your ftp server. Normaly this is port 21.

If you have a firewall will also have to open port 21 for the ftp server.

BTW I use Serv-U FTP Server and BPFTP Server.

@Lineman69...."unicorn" I do think is the one that got me in the correct direction when I was having problems........but the others are very good as well. I use GuildFtp, router, winxp pro, and zonealarm. All of these have a to be set correct for it to work.

What I forgot was to tell the ftp program which ports I was using. Give more info and what errors are encountered.

lineman69 got this all sorted out. I also offered to help by means of pm. By that time the ftp was running :) Good job lineman.
