Whenever I go to shutdown my rig, I get a 'trying to close program' dialogue thingie saying it is trying to end rundll32.exe. When I check task manager I have two of thse running. I cannot find out what is using it. I have to end them manually before I can shotdown the system.
Done an Adaware Sweep, and Spybot Sweep, Virus Sweep all clean. Any other suggestions? |
Have you tried a system restore? How about if you tried uninstalling each program that you have on your system starting with the most recent program you installed.

Don't know if this help:

Let me know if this fix works ;)

When Windows shuts down, each running process is given 20 seconds to perform cleanup work by default. If a process does not respond within this time-out period, Windows displays the "Wait, End Task, or Cancel" dialog box for the process.
Try lowering the value of the WaitToKillAppTimeout setting at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop The default should be 20,000 (20 seconds), but you can lower it to 15000 or 10000. obi1 |
Just use my file that bads posted.
It includes that obi1. Anyways such for all copies of rundll32.exe. Make sure all of them are by microsoft. Just right click properites then version tab on them. If not microsft delete it. Also, check msconfig and delete any mention of rundll32.exe or rundll32.dll. Also, when you start your computer make sure this is no rundll32.exe running. Check services.msc for anything werid too. |
You can try to install the latest SP2 2082 ;)
My PC takes forever to shutdown before I apply this SP2 and now it is shuting down really fast  |
