I was sent an email from a good friend today asking me to sign an online petition. The petition is from the ILPH, International League for the Protection of Horses, it is to prevent the long distant transport of live horses and ponies from the UK to mainland europe for slaughter and human consumption.

Say "No" to live exports petition closes 29th Feb
The fate of Britain?s horses and ponies hangs by a thread. If you want to protect them ? it?s NOW or NEVER. The petition closes on February 29th.
We desperately need your help. New legislation is about to be passed in the European Union that could well open the floodgates for British horses to be exported live for slaughter. This year we could see the resumption of a trade that hasn?t taken place from Britain for 67 years, where lorries loaded with horses and ponies are transported across the Channel to be killed for human consumption in European slaughterhouses.
We believe that the British public will be outraged to see horses and ponies leaving our shores to enter the totally unacceptable long-distance slaughter-horse trade. We urge you to make your feelings known. This petition intends to put pressure on the European Parliament urging them to take into account the British feeling for horses. As a nation we regard horses and ponies as companion animals not meat producers.
Please sign up to our on-line petition below. You will also be given an option of e-mailing other people who might be interested. We would be very grateful if you did this. Even one extra person helps.

Could anyone from the UK who has around 30 seconds to spare and wants to prevent this cruel treatment go to the site and fill in the petition- You Don't Have To Recieve Any Other Communication From The Site If You Don't Want To!!
Thanks
