Not strictly Beta, but version 0.8! but truely excellent.
Go here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
I now tend to use it more than IE or Opera. The Firefox pop-up killer is v good, as well as tab browsing, as its called. Very convenient. The browser feels like an improved IE6, imho.

yes i agree completly i've been using it for quite a while now (when it was firebird they just changed the name) and it definatly kicks donkey. much better then IE.

has some kick donkey plug-ins too, mouse movements are awsome! heheh

yeah basicly its good lol

Sorry I cannot agree anymore.

Here is a end-user's point of view. So don't get me wrong:
I am too lazy to reword everything I talked, so here is a part of the chat.

Code:

[17:18:52] ~*McoreD*~: because IE is the most used browser by ppl ,
they find a lot of security holes in it
that doesnt mean firefox do not have them
[17:19:03] ~*McoreD*~: firefox will have plenty but ppl dont know
[17:19:19] ~*McoreD*~: because it is not popular and the news doesnt
come to them so quick as they come for IE
[17:19:40] BrainyNerd: correct
[17:19:46] ~*McoreD*~: so the user of firefox are pretty late for
          knowing security patches :)
[17:19:49] ~*McoreD*~: glad u got me
[17:20:03] BrainyNerd: open source as you mention is more dangerous
[17:20:07] ~*McoreD*~: yes
[17:20:11] BrainyNerd: because people get the source to it too
[17:20:37] ~*McoreD*~: hackers know better about how firefox works than they do in IE

Plus;
Download Manager -- as said in the other post, I use FlashGet which has much more features.
Popup Blocker -- I use Google Toolbar, and again it has more features that I want

Not all the applications support every non-IE browser.
An error message (attached) was received from Mozilla FireFox when attempting connect to http://www.mess.be. No further information was passed to the user and the problem remains unidentified.
The same site was viewed in Internet Explorer and the user was then able to identify the problem. It was a site that was belonged to a category restricted by Norton Internet Security.

And here is another member's PoV:
Quote:

If FireFox was the most used browser in the world, then people would be looking for holes there instead of in IE6...and then MS's stuff would seem stronger.

I remember a few months ago when the Gentoo Linux project servers were hacked....people are getting sick of open-source in general touting itself as being practically invincible.

Look and you shall find. It's only a matter of time

Which I agree. :)

I see your point, McoreD, as I was wondering how others liked this browser. Of course, popularity & personal choice play a big part in everything. e.g. I really like using CuteFTP Pro & can't imagine anything better. And as far as d/load managers go, Reget deluxe is the best of the lot, or not ?

IE6 is good enough, but I was surprised how Firefox looked like IE should look like next year, maybe, in the LongHorn release version. We will see.

Thank you Berlin2. I understand you as well.

I too was fascinated about FireFox until I came up with the Norton Internet Security issue.
I liked its own features e.g. its ability to cache images such as PNG which IE cannot cache at the moment.

Notwithstanding. Firefox 0.9.1 is out and I'm giving it a whirl. I suppose the comforting thing about IE is that MS is quick to come out with security fixes.
