Hey,
I just installed Windows XP Media Center Edition and I like what I see. So I'm thinking about getting a TV Tunner. Since currently I only have tvout on my grahpics card. So what should I get? Must work with media center edition. Also, is that all I need. I'm starting from strach. Dont know anything really about. Also, anyone know where I can buy a WindowsXP Media Center Edition remote? Thanks, Will |
This one is widely regarded to be the best (I use it and its awesome):

If you want more information, you could try some forums which deal specifically with MCE. I found these to be useful:
h11p://www.xpmce.com h11p://www.thegreenbutton.com There is a list of known compatible hardware here: h11p://forums.thegreenbutton.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=9476092391&f=9956098391&m=5026055393 Personally I am using the ATI All-in-wonder as the graphics card, and it has a built in TV-Tuner. This does not work "out of the box", but there are some patched drivers which make it supported under MCE, and they are working for me without any problems. If you are curious, PM me. |
I recently bought from newegg the ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro rather than the hauppauge WinTV, because I only had a Geforce2. I thought why not spend the $190 and get a new video card with the capture built in. Just got it last Thursday and I've been having fun with it. Very happy so far. B)

Hauppauge does hardware encoding and pegs the cpu at about 5-15%. ATI does software encoding and nails the cpu at 45- 75% very simple. I have both and there is no comparison in quality.
This link has everything you need to know including which capture card is king(pvr250): http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forum...php?forumid=26 http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=10 |
All right cool, thanks a lot guys well check out this weekend when I got more time...
Um yea $199 is pretty high since my grahpics card did not even cost that much. :( Take Care, Will |
