Lately I have been getting this message a lot. Especially if I have a prog up but not active in it for a few minutes. Then when I want to do something nothing moves and after a few secondsthe grey screen comes up saying " this Prog is not responding" AND 2 CHOICES END IT NOW or WAIT.
I use WinXP SP1 Corp edition It happens in IE, and many dif programs. AND I think it has gotten worse just in the last few mos. Any suggestions??? |
I went into Event viewerand found a few types of errors
Under SYSTEM ATI WDM Specialized PCD Codec failed to start...this one shows up about 8 dif times over the last week, and it is always showing 4 consequtive uccurences each time Device, \CD Rom !, has a bad block Under SECURITY No errors showing at all Under APPLICATIONS Hanging App dvdxcOPY VER 1.5.2 ....ABOUT 20 TIMES Fault bucket 44229261 ...showed up 1 TIME NMain.exe VER 6.5.2.806 ...A FEW TIMES Luall.exe ver 2.0.39.0 several times CTP2brwser.exe ver 3.0.5.0 few times Do any of these events likely cause the Not Responding?? |
Did you block internet acces for dvdxcopy?
|
to roadworker....I purchased this prog and it is registered legit.
Mainly, I am interested in knowing whether others have had the " Not responding" window come up more often lately??? |
nope. non responding message never really comes up for me; definately a software conflict causing it..
I'd be suspicious of any codec pack you recently installed; by the way, upgrade your dvd xcopy to the latest version, 3.2.1, which may help if it's a codec issue. I bet that "ATI WDM Specialized PCD Codec" is the culprit. You may want to try and uninstall that and see if anything different happens. Codec conflicts are often the problem; can you still play movies normally, still being able to adjust the color and saturation, and move the position of the movie forward by using the slider? If not, then I bet you have some conflicting codecs, and that is adding to the errors you are seeing. wase4711 |
to wase4711....
This not responding has been happening for the last year, but seems to have gotten worse in the last 2 mos. It has happened a fair bit with DVDXCopy , but i have only experimented with DVDXcopy since Xmas, when I got the DVD burner Latest ver of DVDXCopy is 1.5.2, and DVDXCopy Platinum is a different program and its latest version is 321. Anyway I solved the DVDXcopy problems but I still get the NOT responding glitch sometimes Do you think the "V" relates to the ATI radeon 8500dv, which I did install in Nov,2002, which mioght be the time this not responding started? |
