Hello.

I am new to this whole IRC thing so bear with me. You will probably ask me some questions that I will not understand.

I am trying to be able to recieve a file from my buddy. When he trys to send it and I accept it nothing happens. I can send him files just fine. We thought it might be my firewall. But even when I turned the firewall off it behaved the same way.

Any thoughts/questions?

Thanks

Welcome to the board. :)

Here is something to check:
Assuming you use mIRC like most of us here...

Code:

mIRC Options > DCC > Ignore > Accept Only
If your friend is sending you a file that has an extension which is not listed there, you won't receive it.

Personally I just disable it. ;)

Cheers,
McoreD

Yea and be sure to turn this off, uncheck it:

"Turn ignore back on in:"

Or else it just turns right back on like it says.

If that does not work are you behind a router?

cya,

Will

Fellas, thanks for the suggestions. But unfortantly I have already done the things that you have suggested.

Will, I am not behind a router. I just have Norton's Firewall. But like I said, it acts the same if the fire wall is enabled or disabled.

Any other thoughts?

Hi newman,

Are you using any particular script? Or are you using the normal Mirc script?

newmem 6th Feb 04 11:40 PM

As far as I know I am using just the normal mIRC. I have not changed anything other than what I have mentioned here.... Thanks.

Try have your friend send someone else a file. Make sure it's not him who has the problem.

Also, try send a file to someone else yourself.

Also, make sure the damn WinXP firewall is not enabled.

you may be getting a proper "ident". try changing "ident" settings in mirc.
