We talk bad about M$ but isn't Ebay getting a little carried away?

I'd like to see someone use a P2P type setup and get an online garage sale going. Then people could have thousands of things listed for sale in say .pdf format and everytime they are online people could see them. They would be no listing fee and no % off the total sale. As for the rating system. Maybe a board like "BetaONE" could be used for users to list + or - feedback on each other. Come on, I know there is a better way than Ebay. Take it away guys, I know some of you could get something off the ground easy.

Just a thought.

I've thought about trying something like that in the past but I think that you would need to "specialize" in a certain area to start with. Ebay is just too big to compete with on their level.

I personally think this is a good idea! i'm behind it all the way! :)

I disagree. I think the only way to make it work would be to allow people to list whatever they want within the law, like Ebay. Of course, there would have to be rules to what would be allowed like Ebay. What if this was setup using the bit torrent clients. We host the links that fit within the rules and replies of the + and - feedback would be left on the board. We would charge nothing but donations would be taken just like now.

Yea sounds good to me. Decentrizled is the only way it will work. A ton of trackers would be needed.

would this program be developed by users on this board as sort of an open source? If so what language would it be made in? Can we start listing features for the program now? :) i'm excited, I can't wait to start getting updates for this one!

Edit Below:
I can see it now, donations used for a real TV commericial! how cool would that be? and free listings? sweet
