I want to play with SSL on my FTP Server. Running XLight server now. I realize for anyone to connect to me they will need to use a client that supports it. At first can use Explicit SSL mode where client has choice of encrytion or not, once the bugs are worked out can go Implicit SSL mode where user has no choice. Encrytion only. Now my question, Where do I get my server certificate from? Is it already on my machine somewhere, or do I make one up? Apply for one somewhere?

Thanks
HotRod

After hunting around found out you can make your own certs. Attached is the file to do it and here is the command line

makecert -r -pe -n "CN=<NAME>" -b 03/25/2004 -e 01/01/2036 -eku 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1 -ss my -sr localMachine -sky exchange -sp "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" -sy 12

Wonderful to see how a thread gets back to live after 2 months!

Also nice to see that you found out how to make it. Why pay money if you can make one yourselv?
