I abuse my pc a lot. I ran a registry cleaner yesterday (Registry Healer) and it found close to 2,000 entries it proposed to remove. I'm uncomfortable with wholesale fixes like that and have tried Norton System Works or System Mechanic from time to time, but in this case, I decided to bite the bullet and do a clean install and then keep a Ghost image of the virgin install plus my basic programs and configuration.
Does anyone rely on registry cleaners? Recommendations about the one(s) you like the best? ******************************************* [EDIT} Oh, I forgot to mention I use Registry Crawler when I want to remove certain entries after program removal, but I usually get impatient and never get back to it. :) ***************** |
Hey rikytik,
I tend to use RegCleaner. It serves its purpose. The only time I use it really, is when I remove a program from my computer and it leaves behind a few keys within the registry. That is all I mainly use it for... -SlickVic78 |

I have never used those very much. Occasionally when some problem occurred. It seems to work sometimes, sometimes not and then I usually fall back to some generation of Ghost image.
Tools used: JV16 Powertools and System Mechanic ones or twice. |
I use jv16 PowerTools as well. And I also run Registry Optimization, Registry Compactor, and Page Defragmenter every other day. :)
And chkdsk.exe C: /f /r once a week. Some times twice if need be. And defag every two weeks. Some times every week. |
