Santa Claus brought me a nice and shiny Abit NF7-S mobo......The bios has a great option,Softmenu III,which can be used to overclock your system without the need to play around with jumpers ,wires or soldering. This should make it fun to test a system's limit ;)
Sysinfo:I have a XP2400,a 400w power supply and 1 stick of 512 DDR PC3200,a few 80mm casefans and a nice heatsink + fan on my cpu Can someone recommend me some good overclock settings for my rig?FSB,Multiplier, whatever that needs to be changed to get the most out of it....:) I've read reports of succesful overclocking to a XP 3000 without the need for watercooling .....some guy even claims that his cpu hits 2400 mhz by using a 160 FSB,15X Multiplier and 1,85 v vcore..... Tried that off course, but didn't work on my rig.. :( |
I would reccommend changing the FSB and multiplier gradually and see how your system responds. You are going to have to increase your Vcore voltage to 1.85V though, as it is going to need the extra juice as you push the limits. I would start with the Multipliers and see how those work. Remember a small change is going to yield a fairly big gain, so dont overdue it. And as always, you are taking a big risk when you overclock, so be careful you dont fry your chip. Good luck!

THX for the info......I'm not afraid for frying my system, the pc automaticly shuts down when 85° C is reached.
At approx the same clockspeed,it seems that having a lower multiplier and a higher FSB gives more power than a higher multiplier and a lower FSB... |
Hey roadworker,
Are you just testing, or are you looking to try and make the new changes permenant? If so, be sure to have some cooling options readliy available, because, as I am sure you already know, the more juice you pump into them chips, the hotter things tend to get... This does not only apply to your CPU, it applies to RAM, and everything else in your system... So just be sure you have some cooling options ready to go... ;) Have fun and good luck! -SlickVic78 |

Many thx for the link m8,very useful!:)
@SlickVic78:just testing for the moment bud, trying to find out what my rig can handle.......'till I find a setup that I'm happy with ;) |
@greypigeon....thanks for the link, there is a lot of very good information there.
Thanks Dudelive |
