I have acquired a winpe w/ acronis utilities iso made by the master. I want to upgrade the acronis trueimage boot image to vs. 7. I have made an iso from the new acronis bootdisk. I have verified the iso file is bootable using MS virtual pc. How do I convert the iso into an *.ima file to replace the older one?
thanks, aj ps - these winpe utility disks are very cool. I've been working with a home-made custom one I started from BartsPE site, but can really appreciate the professional quality of the masters. Also why are some of the extensions ima and others img? (i see the img files are a standard floppy size 1.44 and 2.88) |
Isn't this typically a question found at Bart's "The CD-forum"? Well, maybe somebody here knows but my guess is you get an answer there.

You might be able to use the ISO, you can certainly use .img or .bin for boot images. WinIso or others can convert. Sometimes you can just change the filename.
Check it out by creating an ISO of the whole thing and grab the image to the CD in drive Virtual PC while it is booting to test it. WinImage uses IMA, or IMZ by default, which is compressed, and should be avoided. Microsoft uses .img - who knows why. I think some of the image formats are compatible but use different extensions. Hope that's useful |
