its been to long since i've used win98 to get on the net.
below is my setup. cable modem > router -- 1 > computer1 (my computer with win98) 2 > computer2 (with xp pro) 3 > laptop with xp home( not connected all the time). now on the router it shows mine being on, but i can't get on the net. i figure it is something i don't have setup yet since it is a fresh install but i have no idea what it might be. ( i don't care about being able to share files between the computer, i just need access to the net until i get my new case). can someone help me? thanks. |
More info. Um so u want to use DHCP or what? Yea me either, have not tried this type of setup with win98 in a long time but i'll see if i can help.
But anyways you just need to setup win98 to use dhcp and get its ip address from the router. Sould be 192.168.0.1 i believe and a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0. |
Wich brand of router ?
Just check at their website for a "how to" I just install one yesterday for only one PC for the moment and this was really easy |
