Hi Guys,

A sincere wish for a Happy New Year to all of you. I received a mass pm at another board that was so well worded, that I'd like to pass it along to all of you too. Even if it saves one life, it's well worth the flack that I'm probably going to catch ;).

My best to you all and your families,
E3

Hello everyone I knwo you all are probably getting ready for a wonderful night of drinking with friends and family on new years eve but there are a few things I want to talk about seriously here.

I want to start this off by wishing you a Wonderful New year in 2004. With this New Year we put the past behind us and move forward onto new adventures in the year to come. Every New Year¡¦s Eve many celebrate by drinking with a couple of friends, go to a private party, clubs, and many other places. We all know that many people will drink on New Year¡¦s Eve that is not secret but there are some things I want to address. This year one of our own administrators lost a family of 3 people that were dear to him because someone got behind the wheel when they had been drinking. All 3 members of the family were lost and in remembrance of them I would like to give you some information about drunk driving.

There is not one specific type of victim of drunk driving. So many people are affected even if just one person decides ¡§hey I have only had 3 beers I can handle driving¡¨. Guess what, you can¡¦t handle driving. By getting behind the wheel after only one drink you are putting innocent people¡¦s lives at risk.

When someone is hurt in a drunken driving incident you do not just have one victim either. The person who was drunk is affected as well as their family and friends. Then you have the victim, the victim¡¦s family, and friends. I want you all to sit back and imagine what it would be like if you were on the receiving end of a phone call that said ¡§I am sorry to have to tell you this but you husband (or wife, or son, or daughter) was killed tonight by a drunk driver (or was impaired while driving and their life was lost). I am a mother and if I ever had to get that phone call I would want to crawl up into a ball and die.

I am not going to go into all the specifics of how people are affected and what the statistics are because no one really listens until it happens to them or someone they know. Drunken driving is not a smart idea at all. If you are going to be attending a party this New Year¡¦s eve there are a couple of things you as host or as an attendee can do to help stop drunk driving, not only on new years but any time you are out.

?± Give your keys to some one who is sober and will be sober

?± If everyone is drinking stay the night where you are

?± Ask someone to be a designated driver ( not a designated drunk) and if no one is willing to then you do it this way everyone stays safe

?± CALL A CAB!!!!

?± Just don¡¦t drink

?± Stay at home

?± If you are hosting a party, use your discression and take keys away from people as they walk in the door

?± If someone leaves a party and is drunk STOP THEM they may hate you at that moment in time but they will thank you in the morning and if they don¡¦t &*%$ them you do not need people like that any way

Everything is common sense and please everyone be safe. I want to see you all in the New Year.

With Love and Brightest of Blessings for a prosperous and SAFE new year,

Star devil

Hi Flanderz,

I wasn't exactly trying jump the gun to be the first in here... I'd hoped that by posting that message a little early, more people would get the chance to read it before going out partying/drinking on New Years Eve. We want to be able to wish everyone a Happy 2004 on Thursday too :).
