was building my new computer and taking my hd's out of my old computer and i have one screw stuck in my 80gb hd. i can't get it out with anything. its about 1/4 to 1/2 way out. i've tried a pair of pliers, but that didn't help.
can anyone help me? thanks. |
Cut it off. You can do with only 3 screws.

A dremel tool will allow you to renotch a slot or cut the head of the screw off.

Phogphire, I had done that too. right after i posted this, my grandpa came over and got it out with a pair of vise grips.
unicorn, yea its only getting three cause its not getting another one in that hole. thanks everyone. |
funny, you could NEVER actually do that if you tried..stuff like that only happens when you DON't want it to!

Just a small piece of advice, it seems that the screws are able to have a much too large screwdriver than is needed. So if you will only use a smaller driver when it is put back and not one of those cordless screw drills that will over tighten them. Also make real sure that the correct screw is used as some are a different thread pitch that the others and can get cross threaded and will make it nearly impossible to get out again. They should all screw in by fingers, all the way.
Glad you got it out. Dudelive |
i thought i had messed it up in the process cause i couldn't make it get recognized in windows setup. luckily i had just forgot to plug in the power to the hd.
