Has anyone figured out a way to get rid of the "Evaluation Copy" on Desktop for SP2 ? Thanks.

You shouldn't need one for the latest SP2
for earlier versions - cut and paste between the lines to make bat file ------------------------------------------------- @echo off echo Remove sp1 build no from desktop (xpsp1) by wet paper bag (and bophoe) echo. echo this will remove "Testing purposes only" and build no from your desktop pause echo. reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Cert ificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4 /f reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Ce rtificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC 3 /f echo. echo all done, reboot for changes to take effect pause -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
I don't have it showing on my desktop- what installation package are you using?

It came up on mine after I installed WinXP SP2 Beta 1. Its suppose to. Just delete the above reg entries and its gone. But will be back for beta 2, etc.

I install form the SP2 Express Setup ;)
When windows finish downloading all these files, the extraction folder was 499 MB  This is not only 20 mbs |
Sorry Bads but you lost me there :D I said it was 200+ meg meaning over 200 megabytes in size :P

This should appear on all desktops with sp2 installed. No matter what type. But some times it seems the registry key is not created and therefore it does not appear. Its a bug it seems but not one that microsoft cares that much about, after all its only text. :)

I too installed from the SP2 Express Setup and I too don't have any messages on my desktop.
