I spent some time modifying the MS Bluetooth stack to run correctly on Windows 2003. And the result is a success :) I now have the "MS Optical Desktop for Bluetooth" working flawlessly.
If anyone else is in my position, wanting to use the MS Blootooth stack under w2k3, let me know, and I will make a repackaged version of the original installer (Windows XP version is availible as a free download). |
Good stuff buddy.. quite impressive. ;)

Excellent job, Zone-MR.
I'd be interested in the package, since I have Win2k3 and a MS wireless mouse fpr Bluetooth. :) Thanx in advance, and merry xmas, D2k |
I would really like to obtain this package as well, ive been trying to work bluetooth in server 2003 for the optical desktop! many thanks in advance

ah i managed to edit it myself so i no longer need the help, i thought it was more of a hack than it was, when really it was just a text file needing editing... well all is working good now
|
How did you do it?
I tried it too, but was unsuccessful... Thanx for any help, D2k |
on the cd theres is a file located in the prereq\bthStack\enu folder called q323183_wxp_sp2_x86_enu.exe. this is the winxp sp2 hotfix that installs the bluetooth stack that is required.
if you run it it gives you an error, dont click out of the error, go find the folder it extracts to the hard drive with all the files, for some reason on mine it extracted to the d drive, it made a folder with a name that was a long string the first time and the second time the folder name was the number 8, anyways copy that folder somewhere and then click ok to the error, now you have the files you need to edit. in the folder you just copied, go to the update folder and open the update.inf file this is the file to change i changed the build numbers from 5 and 1 and 2600 to 5 and 2 and 3790 and the 3 entries that say 256 are the service pack value (1 for xp) i just erased them and left them blank. save that file and then run update.exe in that folder. it should now install the bluetooth stack. it makes a "wireless link" control panel entry i went there, double clicked it and hit add. it didnt detect the devices automatically unless i pushed the channel buttons on the keyboard and mouse then it installed fine. intellitype and intellipoint on the cd wont install, go get intellipoint and intellitype 5 from the microsoft.com/hardware site they install fine on server. then everything ran peachy. im quite impressed with the range of this set too. |
Hmm... doesn't work for me here. :(
I did exactly that, editing the update.inf file just as you described. Bluetooth stack installed fine, IntelliPoint 5.0 too, but it will not detect my bluetooth mouse, even when I hit the "Connect cannel" button. |
Ok, I got it. It works now; I removed everything and reinstalled.
Thanx for your help! :) D2k (one more happy Bluetooth mouse user ;) ) |
Sorry for not seeing this earlier, I wasn't here that much over christmas.
It seems you guys have already figured everything out. Modifying the .inf files was the easy part, but on some computers it failed to detect and devices untill I changed the "device name" settings on the drivers. I am now using the WIDCOMM Stack (1.4.2), which is fully compatible with Win2K3. The MS stack is a cut-down version of the WIDCOMM stack, and wouldn't work with my phone, bluetooth headset, etc. If anyone is interested, search for it on emule, or PM me. |
