OVER AT Reason there's a report that Los Angeles, because of its politically correct stance, has sent a letter out to its contractors deeming which and which not terms they use.
It prints a letter purporting to be from an official which rules that manufacturers labelling equipment using the terms Master/Slave is not acceptable identification. That's based on the cultural diversity and sensitivity of Los Angeles County, the purported letter says. Master/Slave is ordinarily used by the industry to describe separate hard drives in a PC. But, let's face it, the PC industry is driven by some pretty, or perhaps not exactly pretty, but certainly unreconstructed alpha males, in our experience.
