This registry tweak makes FTP browsing in Internet Explorer so much BETTER and FASTER !! (at least that's what I think). In my opinion it should be on by default.

In windows, open regedit.

browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftFtp

edit the key:
"Use Web Based FTP"

and set it's value to "yes" instead.

Restart IE and now try browsing [link]ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/[/link]

You'll love this! (as opposed to that screwed-up timing-out folder view.)

edit: You can change it much easier by just unchecking "Enable folder view for FTP sites" in IE's advanced options.
