Symantec Antivirus Corp Edition works perfectly on my server.
I also use this one for exchange 2003, and it kills every bug that comes by. :D

Yes it works very well. Have it running on mine too.

Rather than make a separate post, I'm going to revive this post. ;)

Getting back to the original part of the question that wasn't answered.....

What firewall Software Works With 2003 Server?

And I'm looking for something inexpensive. (yes I'm cheap. ;) )

DoG 9th Feb 04 08:13 PM

Apparently Norton Personal Firewall 2003 works on 2k3 server.
Visnetic Firewall works on 2k3 server.
I tried a few others, let me see if i can make a list for you :)

Are you positive DoG?

If you are, I need go no farther.

i've been successfully using Tiny Personal Fire Wall v5.0 since it was released a few months back... its the only firewall i tested that really worked. get the most latest and most stable version to date ... currently version 5.5 build 1298.

Thanks for that info DzNFek. It's my only candidate so far. :)

Hi,

ESET's Nod32 a/v works fine on my tweaked Win Server 2003.

Capricornxs 7th May 04 08:47 PM

using sygate and nod32 together so far no probs :)

Sophos should work, running the Small Buisness Edition :) You can get a 30 day trial at http://www.sophos.com

McAfee 7.01 Enterprise ..

DzNFek 30th Jul 04 03:50 AM

I've changed firewalls... now using Agnitum Outpost, very very impressive firewall and a lot easier to manage than Tiny Personal Firewall 5.5 ... but i am keeping a close eye on TPF 6.0 which i have tested on my other Server 2003 install, i believe it will soon join the ranks of mainstreme firewalls due to its ease of use and flexibility.

for my AV i use Nod32 simply the best for me. im not a fan of Norton Bloatware Anything, sorry just had to say it.

btw, i tried McAfee and it slows your system down ... very noticeable during bootup and shut down.

belthazor 30th Jul 04 12:56 PM

DzNFek...have you heard anything else about TPF 6?
I have a 40% discount upgrade offer from Tinysoft, and if 6 is much improved I don't want to pass it up. :)

right now... unless you want the headaches of early beta stages i'd forget about installing it. but if you want to familiarize yourself with the new interface and enhancements then by all means download and install it on a machine thats not directly wired to the net. i would use that 40% upgrade on a stable release and impementation of TPF 6.0. hth

btw, one thing i loved about 6.0 is its much easier to use/configure than 5.5.

belthazor 3rd Aug 04 12:11 PM

Thanks DzNFek. I did get it for the site, but I seem to have some issues with configuration.
And as far as I can tell, the beta stage was over at the end of June. The one I got isn't beta.

thats what they always say ... its kinda like a marketing ploy. i was there through (almost) the whole 5.0 to 5.5 builds, uninstalling and upgrading after everytime a new one came out... this is the same thing, so buckle up.

i would wait for it to mature a bit, maybe when it reaches 6.2 or 6.3 ... right now its not worth much, like you were witness to... all those errors. :(
