How do you get the freaking DVD playback to work in WMP 9? I had it working before, but not since I reinstalled XP about 5 months ago and I can't remember how I did it. I have installed a few different DVD playback software packages including WinDVD and PowerDVD 5 and I can't get it to work! The regular software players with PowerDVD and WinDVD work just fine but when I try to play it in WMP9 it says I need a codec or need to change my color and res settings [which doesn't work]? I should have it installed with the software, right?

Someone released a DVD codec pack for WMP8, try installing that. I havent had a problem with WMP9 though.

Try that kazaa codec pack, I don't know for the dvd playback but with the kazaa codec pack I was able to play SVCD's on wmp9 because it has that Cyberlink DVD decorder

Here linky to download: h**p://kd4.edskes.com/klcodec204f.exe

I've got that K-lite codec pack installed and no luck. Gives me the same error as having PowerDVD 5 installed. No luck.

Was it the Full or basic version of kazaa codec pack you tried?

Hmm...let me see.

The file was called klcodec204f.exe and was 8.15 MB.

Which one is that?

Thats full version, so its another problem then :(

What about the nimo codec pack

I think that gives you a codec for dvd playback

Darkwolven I had the same problem here.
But when I installed Powerdvd it was working again?
WMP9 must use the engine of powerdvd I think.

Hope this helps

I have the Nimo pack too. Maybe that is the problem? I have heard that XP can get confused sometimes if there is more than one codec for DVD playback. Hmm...also the PowerDVD I have may not be the full version.

Usually installing a full version dvd software program installs the codec that you need to play DVD's in WMP9..find one, uninstall ALL the other codecs that didnt work, and reboot...that should solve this problem!
