Fisher 18th Jul 03 06:00 AM

Update of the popular unsupported tweaking tool by Microsoft, Version 2.10 adds support for Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows Server 2003 as well as new features such as background defragmentation of hard disk(s), a context (right-click) menu entry for encrypting files and directories and changes to filename sorting in Windows Explorer, the ability to use the Tab key to navigate AutoComplete fields and change the 'throbber' graphic in Internet Explorer and many other new and enhanced features.

PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released to manufacturing. They add fun and functionality to the Windows experience.

They include:

Open Command Window Here
This PowerToy adds an "Open Command Window Here" context menu option on file system folders, giving you a quick way to open a command window (cmd.exe) pointing at the selected folder.

Isn't that the icon in IE that moves when navigating to a new page.  Used to be a globe, now it's a flag.  Suppose it's customizable.

Hello Family!!!
so you want to tweak your xp-os.
Here's some trick you won't get from Microsoft.
It will add speed and security to your system.
Disable these startup services for a safer and faster XP. Use the "Services" Admin Tool. Got to-->Control Panel--> Administrative Tools--> Services. If you are a single user of a non-networked machine, you can disable the following items, with no ill effect.

Alerter
Clipbook
Computer Browser
Fast User Switching
Human Interface Access Devices
Indexing Service (Slows the hard drive down)
Messenger
Net Logon (unnecessary unless networked on a Domain)
Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (disabled for extra security)
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager (disabled for extra security)
Remote Procedure Call Locator
Remote Registry (disabled for extra security)
Routing & Remote Access (disabled for extra security)
Server
SSDP Discovery Service (this is for the utterly pointless "Universal P'n'P", & leaves TCP Port 5000 wide open)
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
Telnet (disabled for extra security)
Universal Plug and Play Device Host
Upload Manager
Windows Time
Wireless Zero Configuration (for wireless networks)
Workstation
