Keru 4th Jul 03 06:49 AM

noticed dis showing under my avatar "Warn: (0%)"

could some one tell me about dis ;)

richardc2000 4th Jul 03 07:07 AM

Whenever I see spelling or grammar errors, I plan to give the poster a warning that only the poster can see. Right now, I am trying to figure out how much dis should be. :P

Keru 4th Jul 03 07:28 AM

oh .... ok

Zone-MR 4th Jul 03 11:25 AM

Keru, the warning system lets mods/admins keep track of people who break rules, harrass other members, etc. If a mod has a complaint about a member, they may warn that member. This increases the warning level. Repeat offenders who reach 100% warn may find them selves with a permanant/temp ban. Obviously this isnt something you or the vast majority of our members will ever need to worry about. I made it so members could see their own warning levels, and what complaints were made against them.

um does this breaking of the rules include posting in the wrong place as that is the only breaking of the rules I have done and I hope not I am bad about posting in the wrong place.

Sorry, this was a stupid post and I should be ashamed for posting meaningless things. To much Laphroaig maybe. Anyway, I am not removing it, just editing it. One have to face it sometimes...

Mr GSD, what is your warning level?

I wanted to open this thread to reply to [^CoUnT_pOrNuLa^] question.

If the crew sees a member making a habbit of posting in the wrong section (for example Chit Chat) and it's clear they know better than that....

Yes the member will receive warnings.

robjohn 5th Jul 03 04:07 PM

Wouldn't it have been easier, and just as good, to simply PM the alleged wrong-doers??

That was how we handled it in the past, since the board comes with the Warning software built in it was decided to utilise it. When a thread is moved, closed, edited or deleted the Mod or Admin who takes the action would send a PM anyway.

KingCobra 5th Jul 03 04:45 PM

The problem with the PM's is that with all the Admin & Mods the member in question tends to get way with more than needed because of a lack of communication. The warn allows all Admin and Mods see the record of the member in question with problems in the past.

robjohn 5th Jul 03 05:34 PM

Okay, but it sure feels like 'Big Brother' is watching.

DoG 5th Jul 03 06:53 PM

How? we still look at each post as soon as we see it and check the content. All the warning system does is facilitate easier communication between mods and admins by allowing us to see what a person has been warned about in the past and allow us to make a judgment call as to wehter the person is a repeat offender. Would you prefer it if you couldnt see the warn indicator?

robjohn 5th Jul 03 07:48 PM

Yes, if possible (until a warning has been issued).

Nichotin 6th Jul 03 09:18 PM

pretty smart system.

edit: i was gonna remove my own post, but isnt that possible any more?

unicorn 6th Jul 03 09:59 PM

@nichotin: imho; No posts should ever be deleted. Editing spelling is ok but apart from that I think we should stand for what we are saying.
We have had this discussion (twice, I think) before and then it ended up with some kind of decision that leave it as is, ie editing is possible, deleting is not. Then of course you can edit your post into something totally different from what you wrote in the first place. But, what is that except of showing of as a coward? Then some posts might very well be deleted in certain topics, but then again, they don't do any harm really staying there.
A topic close to this is this: What I think we really need is a "Thank you"-robot, a good way to show appreciation withou having to spend space and bandwidth for a whole post.

regards!

LOL! duh, they are! before and especially now after 9.11

KingCobra 18th Jul 03 12:51 AM

UPDATE F.Y.I. - I understand that things have changed. You will nolonger be able to see your WARN LEVEL. Only the crew ADMIN & MODS will see your level 0% - 90%.

Lunatic 18th Jul 03 05:10 AM

Why is that?

DoG 18th Jul 03 05:27 AM

Because people were complaining that they could see their warning levels (?). We try to listen to our members opinions and wishes :)
