Enjoy, ~PCT |
you probably could build one yourself for cheaper, but if you can't build one yourself, then it sounds like a good system to me.

Of course, like you said, it may have been cheaper to buy the parts and put it together yourself. But for the price he is getting, I would take up on it! :) @ ~*McoreD*~, Let us know how you make out with the system! :) -SlickVic78 |
i shop the rebates at office supply stores so i can usually get monitors for pretty cheap. (envision 17" for about $30 after mail-in rebates).
but yea let us know what you decide. |
You have already seen my reply in another forum. To add more to this, I did indeed test the performance between the Ti4200 and the FX 5200 and I have to say that the Ti4200 would be your best bet for a graphics card. The only advantage of buying a FX 5200 would be that it is DirectX 9 compatible. Other than that its performance is equivalent to that of a GeForce MX440.

thanks for all you replied! :)

======================================== Intel CPU - P4 2.4GHz - 800FSB/Hyperthread Westan Digital Hard Drive - 120JB, 7,200rpm, 8MB cache Kingston 256M PC3200 - DDR400 CAS 2.5 Asus Approved Intel Mainboard - 865PERLL with LAN MSI VGA - 128M Ti4200 8X/ViVO/DVI Lite-on CD Re-Writer - 52x24x52 Kit. Lite-on DVD 16x speed drive. ======================================== I think they haven't given me much discount this time after realising that I am capable of getting a Sony 17" FD Triniton monitor. They have added $425! just for the changes I made after the first configuration! But when I replied them asking to itemise each item they ignored it. :( |
... Run ~*McoreD*~! Run away or you'll be sorry. :(
|
McoreD,
Have you looked on ebay for any deal? I won a bid for this same system for $532.50 US dollars: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2734261233 With shipping and money order fees it tacked on only another hundred bucks, though shipping to Oz might be a bit more it's still worth a shot ;) :) /JD |
Another good way of doing it is shop for the best prices around the net get the quotations and etc. and then decide what you want then go to a shop show them the prices that you found for each item and then ask them if they can build it to match if not beat the cost of what you found. That way you get wht you want as well as know you havent been cheated. It may take a little more ttime than if you were to buy a prebuilt and customize but its worth it in the long run and for your pocket (no hidden on-board garbage).

Since you vid card has TV out usally you can pick up used 19" -25" TV's mega cheap I know that the picture quality is not the same butb Plasma screens will drop to around $100 bucks this x-mas. Then you can have the best of both worlds.
The same thing with DVD-Burners. Watch and see, But buy your RAM now I don't know as much about Intel Mobo's but I know that the sockect A Mobo, Your better to run (2) 256MB DDR of the the same brand is faster than one 512MB stick alone. Not sure if the same is true of the P4. |
