I need a simple script for putting a domain name search tool on a website. Can anyone suggest anything? (I buy my domains from someone already, so I dont want a 3rd party selling tool.)

Probably a script?

Hi trminatr,

Have you got a url for an appropriate search tool?

All the best,
E3

Confused. You mean use a different web site to make my domain search on my web use that?

I think that's what he means.

Another solution would be to visit http://cgi-resources.com and get a WHOIS script. B)

Yeah, I was trying to take the easy route first ('the path of least resistance' ;)). If you've got a url for a domain search tool that doesn't throw all the 3rd party selling stuff at you, it would be easiest to try to work that into your website. Will something like that work for your purposes? :)

just_do_IT 8th Jun 03 04:47 AM

@E3 absolutely. so perhaps whois or godaddy..?

:)

Sephiroth 8th Jun 03 06:04 AM

just do an iframe to godaddy's?

Code:

<iframe src="http://www.godaddy.com/url/to/the/thingie" width="how wide the frame is" height="how tall the frame is" frameborder="0" border="0">some message to people with ancient browsers who can't view iframes</iframe>

billybob3 8th Jun 03 06:07 AM

The above methods will work...but if you want the WHOIS to blend in with your website, you might consider the use of CGI/PERL.

E3 9th Jun 03 01:50 AM

Hi trminatr,

Both Seph and billybob are right. Taking the path of least resistance again we could probably try to get away with an iframe (and don't know if your server's running Perl/CGI). The layout of your site is what will really dictate if we can get away with an iframe and still keep it looking like it all goes together though. Could I take a look at your site (PM if you'd prefer)? Let me know just where you'd like the tool to run from too please? :)

All the best,
E3
