just a word of causion - one should never take these debates personally :)

it's one of those good/bad things to have a debate section on a forum like this. on one hand, it's nice to have a place to debate about serious stuff and express individual views. however, you can run into a "mob" mentality where 1 person's view is strongly antagonized by a group of ppl, which can be really bad in a small community like this :)

so i'd advise the mods/admins to tell ppl becareful what they say while excercising their right of "freedom" of speech and take other's "feelings" into consideration. respect eachothers' views and don't attack anyone on a personal level with malicious words.

That is why we watch the political discussion forum for any signs of flaming, and deal with it right away.

And the mods certainly do deserve a big THANKS :pepsi: for keeping on top of thier sometimes thankless work and dedication.

Where did this issue come up? I've never seen anyone use that forum. The only topic that i've seen is that one about the police shooting people with rubber pelets. BUt, other then that the forum seems inactive.

Modding and Adminning (:D) is never an easy job. But I would like to congrat all the mods and admins here on the job they do. Keep it up guys.

The forum was created just befor the recent war (All comments about said war in th Political forum please!) to fill the need for heated political/religious discussions. We didnt want that kind of thing in chit chat!

I have a funny feeling the Political forum may become MUCH more active in about 6 months.

I absolutely agree with this.

As one of the members that asked for this forum to be added I did hope that it would be successful, however, having being quite unfairly lampooned by another member on a thread I started in that forum, I now doubt the viability of the forum.

I do hope that the board does not go the way others we have seen where they have degenerated into mass flaming and idiocy.

This experience is a first for me on BetaONE and I think i'm going to take a few months break away for the board. I need it.

I really don't think this will happen anytime soon at BetaONE. Just ask the user Empty.

We are all members of a community that we run together, regardless of beeing mods or newbies. Then it also is pretty easy to understand that we all share the responsibility for what's goin' on here.

A "Political Forum" is a good place to put aggressions and frustrations and idiotic things. We all just have to remember that this forum is the only one not filled with love and understanding. To me it is allright to share knowledge, bits of code and the everyday computer-related talk with everybody here. That include the idiots and the narrowminded and totally weird ones that express opinions making me shiver by xxxxxxxxxx (replace with whatever you like).

And why not? By isolate the hot topics in Political I'm satisfied, then I can go on with the rest of my daily computerrelated needs in the other forums.

Sometimes this is a little difficult. It might be hard to separate a harsh discussion with somebody in Political and then go and be nice to the same person in a support forum for example. It's an art itself and it demands some practise. The point is that it can be done. It also should be done - the same moment we decide to not let people talk we loose in human value.

Edit: Removed something about my brain, guess I was tired when posting this, also: Sorry for my bad English, sometimes it stops me from expressing myself and I can only hope that you all understand.
