I have been working on a logo for my business and haven't found the right look. I have made progress, but sometimes you are too close to the project to really see the big picture.

Anyone interested in assisting me?

Thanks

Hi Bossone,

Sounds like you've got Illustrator so if you go to File>Save for Web and choose gif from the Settings drop down menu, that will work. If that's a bit much, just go to File>Export and choose 'BMP' or 'JPEG' from the drop down menu (no gif choice there), that should suffice.

Have fun :),

Edited: Oops... Sorry, I misunderstood what you needed

Bossone 11th May 03 04:42 AM

I have a gif file...how do i add it here so people can see it to comment

DoG 11th May 03 04:45 AM

When you reply to this post, you will see a box saying "File Attatchments", just below the smileys, click the "browse" button and navigate to the file you want to show us and select "Open". It will attatch the file

Any new suggestions?

Voodoo 17th May 03 12:36 PM

Hi there Boss.

Just a question. What color are the signs in your part of the world that show WORKMEN AHEAD or ROADWORKS AHEAD?

Bossone 18th May 03 12:15 AM

Orange... Why?

Yellow is standard in our industry....saftey color of most cranes....

KingCobra 18th May 03 12:42 AM

Orange, I see yellow. You are talking about the logo above right?

In that case I would venture to say that I really do prefer the 2 top yellow ones. As you said, it fits in with your bussiness. ;) One suggestion that I would make is to use a white crane in the logo and not black. (like the bottom right one.) Other than that I really do like what you have so far.

My $0.02 worth. ;)

Well, it seems that I am flying straight into the wind. ;) All the others liked the red; I prefer the yellow as it fits in with your work. No-one liked the guide lines; I do. I really think this looks good. What is your feelings on this Bossone?

Dave,

Do you still need the file?I like the lines as well and had thought about using the same format you as you did above, but with out the Gaffey name.... I think that is to busy....I would replace the Crane Equip with Gaffey and maybe extrend the lines a bit.....one person has suggested putting arrow on the end of the lines.....to show movement

I know several companies like to have two versions of the same logo.

One being a large version of a logo showing the telephone number, contact details etc. Just like DL designed and I love it.

Sometimes it is also usefult o have a 'compact' version of the logo w/o the extra detail, kept as simple as possible, for use as a small marking on a product, envelope, or whatever. In this case I would go with the top design, but keep it 'rectangular' - rather than have the crane stick out the bottom, add another line and make the hook fill the blank space. I suck at GFX design, but the general concept is something like this:

Zone-MR, yes, I do aggree with you 100% on the idea of a big logo and then a compact logo for small marking. I also do aggree that this one should be plain and simple. I do like the one you made. ;)

@Bossone what do you think? Please let us all know after you have decided on the final logo / logo's. Would be interresting to see. :D I would not go for the arrows (Just my personal thouht) ;) And no, you don't need to send the file anymore.

Bossone

One of the main rules of a logo is to keep it simple. There's actually a lot of professional reasons for that, but one of the main ones is so it will scale cleanly. If its got a lot of intricate design it usually doesn't scale down very well for printing purposes. I think what DL and Zone mentioned about the 2 versions would work well for you in that regard. In the compact/small one I'd keep it very simple though, and if you've got to have text in it, keep just 'CES' and no more. You really don't want them to have to 'read' much/anything in a true logo.

Looking good :),
E3
