I have heard that recently, too for XP.
Guess it is time for some companies to change their serial number.
Maybe there is something in SP2.

We at Betaone are a Clean board and community and
Pirated Keys etc should not be discussed here...

Just installed a copy of Office XP and it is now a trial version (funny it wasn't on my old machine) - the program insists on being activated. Didn't download any office updates.

However after installing XP on the new box, updated it with something called SP1A. Won't be doing that again.

SP1a For windows XP resolved some of the legal issues in the microsoft antitrust legal battle, it reportedly only removed the MS Java machine and updated the system to SP1. Not that i beleive that one bit :D

EDIT: I edited the topic title, we are still a family orientated forum

@ Fares :
It seems like someone in your company has lost control of your VLK's, so MS has had it blacklisted due to its spreading among software-pirates.
Ask your IT dept. to get a new key from MS that is not blacklisted,
but be prepared to have your company de-headed for letting the key out in the open :giljotiini:

Edit :
It seems like you have been ahead of the rest, as it will be officially released April 24,
try doing a new Win Update after the official release :)

@annejay - fond this at neowin
VLK has been the more popular choice for warez since Microsoft introduced Activation on its products, one of the first products to be blocked from updates using a leaked VLK was Office XP at SR-1 level.

@bads - I know why I am having problems - thanks anyway

protecteur 23rd Apr 03 09:04 PM

Please edit your post or it will be deleated!! We at betaone don't support warez or endose it!! Please follow th eforums rules!!

Thanks!!

Yes, there are some younger members here.

Maybe your serial wasn't registered properly into the MS servers when your IT dept signed up for the licence from them

I know with WinXP you can download the updates and install them later. I would wait till after its offical realse then try the update. Or slipstream the updates into your copy.

This is just an idea, I haven't tried it, or read it...

...But until your company gets a new key, could you change the installed key (using the OOBE as detailed by MS) to any other key, then download your update before the time limit expired, then change back to the VLK you know works???
