i can try a telnet to a specific port at the DOS prompt 2 c if the service yr running responds... ;)

like:
Code:

telnet www.xpatriot1.no-ip.org 21
if u have a ftp server running on port 21 :)

XPatriot 19th Apr 03 07:07 PM

Hello nnuxx...

check pm..

cheers..

KingCobra 19th Apr 03 08:03 PM

@ XPatriot - Is this a http server? Because I never see the www used with the no-ip, are you sure it shouldn't look like this:

http://KingCobra.myftp.org:10000

Sephiroth 19th Apr 03 08:04 PM

you can't ping a specific port

does your router have an option that is labeled something along the lines of Block WAN Request? If so, cut that off, and that'll let your IP be pingable. Otherwise, make sure the port is allowed in your firewall and make sure it's forwarded to your machine if you're behind NAT.

nnuxx 19th Apr 03 08:37 PM

[@KingCobra
curiously d result is d same  ;)

Code:

>ping www.xpatriot1.no-ip.org
Pinging www.xpatriot1.no-ip.org [66.183.198.149] with 32 bytes of data:

>ping xpatriot1.no-ip.org
Pinging xpatriot1.no-ip.org [66.183.198.149] with 32 bytes of data:

dunno if it is a funcioning feature of no-ip.org since i have never used it (still :naughty: )
or maybe he did a mx record?? or even a new 'account'?? :cursing: :lamo:

peace :sailor:

I have wildcards enabled...

Curiously...Gryzb's before he went on vacation was able to connect with virtually no changes to the configuration other than the port...originally i was using port 21...

Replying to your PM:

Code:

Pinging www.xpatriot1.no-ip.org [66.183.198.149] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 66.183.198.149:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)

m8, what KingCobra was tellling ya is right. :)
i too dont think you can have www.
if u are having dynamic ip, u always have to update the new ip via no-ip.com.
good luck!

check this here:
http://www.betaone.net/forums/index....T&f=20&t=21418
and ask any help regarding ftp there. sure you will get help. :)

Sephiroth, re: Block WAN Request and Linksys router...

I'm sure this is the reason why you can't ping although i was under the impression that this feature was the esentially the router firewall ... and should not be disabled...????

I have the port opened up and would like one last attempt to get this server going...

Anyone have an ftp client that would like to try connecting..???

nnuxx 20th Apr 03 06:18 AM

its working m8 ;) welll :dots: almost anyway :frusty:

Code:

PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,103,4,148)
Data Socket Error: Connection timed out

Code:

PORT xxx,xx,x,xx,6,255
200 PORT Command successful.
LIST
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
426 Data connection closed, transfer aborted.

this could be both our FW's fighting each other... :starwars: :wallbash:
maybe u should wait 2 c if someone else gets same error :renske:
or else u might have 2 open yr "Servers port"-1 for an active connection :taz:
ex. server is running on port 21 -> opened ports are 21 AND 20 :wink3:

*EDIT:*
nevermind... did u checked the box in ServU where u can set d IP of d server if using it behind a router/firewall ?? ;)
then... do it :D

XPatriot 20th Apr 03 06:37 AM

I think its now configured....lol..

I have the dynamic ip and passive settings now set....

Thanks nnuxx...
