ok I have a D-Link DFE-530TX+ 10/100 pci card, and i can't get the freakn thing to work. It allways says its unplugged. The other thing i noticed is that the little lights on the back never turn on, other nic cards i have allways have blinking lights even when their unplugged. So any suggestions? when i put the card in win xp recognizes it and installs the driver but it still doesn't work. I even tryed using the drivers on the cd. still didn't work. thanks for anyhelp.

i'm running XP
athlon xp 1600+
asus a7v266-e mobo

let me know if you need any more info

I have the same card in my 2nd PC
Didn't had to install any driver, works perfect in XP and SERVER2003
Did you try another cable ?

RadiationBoy 12th Apr 03 11:54 PM

the cable works fine b/c I put another nic card in and it works fine. so now i have two nic cards in the computer and only one of them works

Try and put the NIC in another slot on the M/B. If that's not it, it's probably dead. The light not coming on is a good indicator. When you plug it into a hub or switch, does the light on the hub come on? That will also tell you if it's working or not.

Good luck

It's strange, I had a D-LInk fail like that, bought a new Linksys NIC, worked fine. Then built a second computer, installd the d-Link and it has been there working the past 6 months. Weird.

Rad,

You can also try pinging 127.0.0.1 which is the local loopback address and used for testing purposes ;)

But I guess if you are not getting any lights at all (green usually signifies a link) then the sucka is dead

:)

I had tried to put 2 nic cards in one machine once and got an almighty conflict. Once card i could use but the other one, although detected by windows wouldnt work what so ever. Ended up reinstalling windows with both cards in and they worked fine after that
