Yeah, had some cases with Telewst (UK) about people managing it, and then getting throttled by their ISp who spies on the bandwidth they use.

I have to check that because I will have my first cable modem friday ;)

My first high speed internet access and I don't want to lose it :D

with most modern cable companies that use docsis complient hardware you can't do this, and if you can you'll get busted pretty quickly i'm sure

I have to say that 15kbps or should I say more like 13kbps :angry: just don't cut it for the $MONEY$

Well, I have dealt with this issue for a couple of years now, and can offer this advice..

DO NOT UNCAP YOUR CABLE MODEM!!

You will get busted, 100% for sure..All Cable companies monitor that stuff, and even though you may get away with it for a few days or weeks, there is one thing for sure:

They will find out, and either ban you , fine you , or both...

Try it if you like it, but remember the warning...

I have cable. When I spoke of CAP, I'm speaking of my upload. What's your MAX upload speed @ kbps?

Is this stuff limited to Cable Modems alone? Or can Dial Up Modems work with it to? I am not sure if there is a limit on Dial Up. Is there. It is any way to slow.

POTS (plain old telephone system) is capable of a maximum of 56K. I never got that back in the days of dial up - you will most likely get 33.6-42K.

So in other words, no. There is no unlock for a dial up modem.

the most i got out of dialup (when i had it) was 52K, mostly 48K.
