Hello,

Some days, I start--run--CMD and all is working fine ;)

But today, I see this when I try to run "CMD" :

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
© Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
'1' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxxxx\Desktop>

And all the command I try don't works

This is not the first time that I see this :o

How can I fix that please

Thanks

I still need help please :o

And do you know what is the "1" :

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

hmmm

going out on a limb here, try this

type "set" without the quotes and either copy and paste or put a screenshot here of what it says and I'll see what i can do from there :)

Another thing, is try typing path=c:\windows\system32;c:\windows\;c:\windows\sy stem32\wbem

that should fix some things, still need to see a shot of what set gives though

sorry m8, I wish I could help :(

I also looked into toit but couldn't find a thing yet.

Check if there are and shortcuts or pif files with the name cmd, and try starting _DEFAULT.LNK of _DEFAULT.PIF. Also you may try to start command.com (?!?) anyways.

Sephiroth 2nd Jan 03 07:51 AM

the reason no programs are starting is because the path is f'ed up, the command i gave will fix that, but i can't remember how to make it permanent

Quote:

set path=what i typed

should do it i think, ummmmmmm, for the 1, you've lost me on that one, the only thing i can think of trying is type

Quote:

set comspec=c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

or

Quote:

set prompt=$P$G

if that doesn't work, then /me doesn't know

Bads 2nd Jan 03 08:07 AM

Thanks Sephiroth ;) ;)

This one: "path=c:\windows\system32;c:\windows\;c:\windows\s ystem32\wbem" as fixed my problems and now I can use CMD

But I still have the "1"

Thanks again

Bads 2nd Jan 03 09:33 AM

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
---------------------------
C:\PROGRA~1\WinRescueXP\Cmd.pif
Invalid program file name, please check your pif file. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Fermer

Also CMD : Windows Command Processor- C:\WINDOWS\system32

This is the one with the '1'

But each time I start it, I have to insert this one :path=c:\windows\system32;c:\windows\;c:\windows\s ystem32\wbem :o

Sephiroth 3rd Jan 03 01:55 AM

first, open C:\PROGRA~1\WinRescueXP\Cmd.pif

and paste me the contents of it

and open cmd and type

Quote:

set path=c:\windows\system32;c:\windows\;c:\windows\sy stem32\wbem

close cmd, reopen, and see if it stays permanently fixed

if not, try

Quote:

setlocal path=c:\windows\system32;c:\windows\;c:\windows\sy stem32\wbem

The first command works :

set path=c:\windows\system32;c:\windows\;c:\windows\sy stem32\wbem

But the second don't works and If I close and reopen CMD, I have to repaste the first command :o

ok, let's try this

right click my computer, properties, advanced, enviromental variables, under system variables, highlight path and hit edit, and put

Quote:

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\Sy stem32\Wbem

there

and while you're in there, make sure ComSpec says

Quote:

%SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe

(will likely say c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe instead of %systemroot%)

Sephiroth 3rd Jan 03 04:05 AM

and paste this into your run box and run it and see if you still get the "1"

%systemroot%\system32\cmd.exe

if so, try

%systemroot%\system32\command.com

Bads 3rd Jan 03 04:36 AM

Ok,

All is running fine now ;)

But I still see the "1" if I choose CMD and I don't see it if I run:

%systemroot%\system32\command.com

Thanks for your time and patience Sephiroth

Sephiroth 3rd Jan 03 04:42 AM

no prob :)
